The Signalman's Cottage offers bed and breakfast accommodation at Mount Nelson, 15 minutes from Hobart. The cottage is located at the Mount Nelson Signal Station, six kilometres south of the city. The Signalman's Cottage includes a double bed, ensuite bathroom, laundry and kitchenette. Continental breakfast provisions are provided and there is an outdoor barbecue. The Signalman's Cottage is adjacent to 45 hectares of protected bushland, 150 metres from the Mt Nelson Signal Station. Originally a semaphore station in the 19th century, the Mount Nelson Signal Station is now a restaurant, picnic area and lookout. Occupying the building's original verandah, the restaurant has views of Hobart and Storm Bay. You can watch the sunset over dinner or enjoy a light lunch while listening to live jazz on a Sunday afternoon. The picnic area has unsheltered tables and barbecues and there is a tracked walk through the surrounding bush. A special rate of AUD100 per night for three consecutive nights or more and AUD90 per night for six consecutive nights or more applies.
